48 Hours in Terrigal – a locals guide

Uncategorized 21/03/2018

The Central Coast has so much to offer that hoards of Sydneysiders travel up for long weekends in the summer, any chance they can get!  Terrigal is a crowd favourite, proving popular with tourists for its local charm, gorgeous views, and boutique shops. Terrigal seems small, but it extends far beyond the esplanade! Follow our guide to 48 hours in Terrigal to make sure you don’t miss anything on your next trip!

7am: Start your morning with an early beach walk. Many locals walk along the beach from Terrigal to Wamberal and back before starting their days. You will also see some keen swimmers tackling the sea in the early morning. What a refreshing way to start the day!

9.30 am: Yoga class at The Yoga Collective, Terrigal. This yoga studio is catered to anyone from beginners to advanced, you will be graciously welcomed at this studio. Located just behind Terrigal Medical Centre, this yoga studio will offer you a relaxed and centred start to your busy day.

11.30 am: Paddle Board the Lagoon. Terrigal has stand up paddleboards available for rent and the lagoon is the perfect, flat surface to have a go! If you’re really good, you’ll make it under the bridge and around the back of all of Terrigal’s finest mansions. What a view!

1 pm: Worked up an appetite? Head to the esplanade! There are so many options at many prices to fill your belly. Our personal favourites include Island Time, Aroma’s On Sea, Driftwood and Cheeky 3. However, there are always new emerging cafe’s popping up all the time.

3 pm: Time to head to The Haven. This is the perfect time to watch scuba divers head out from the Haven beach, have a walk along the rocks and even have a chance at seeing some whales during migration season! The dog park at the back of the Haven is a great place to sit and people watch (or dog watch) and get to know some of the friendly locals.

6 pm: Hike the Skillion for Sunset. One of the most breathtaking views you will find on the coast is on the top of the Skillion at sunset. You will pass many gym and fitness junkies doing their hill sprints up the grassy cliff, so this is not for the faint of heart, but the view is well worth it! There are seats along the way for rest.

8 pm: Terrigal Beach House. This is a great place for a parmy, a dance or some local trivia. Take this time to unwind with a glass of wine or a schooner after an action-packed day! Time for bed to tackle tomorrow!

9.30am: You deserved a lie in today after yesterdays activities! Start the day at the beach early before it gets too hot, sun bathing and people watching. Watch the children at their nippers activities and the surfers out in the distance. Relax with your favourite book or perhaps have a nap on the beach. Don’t forget to slip slop slap!

11.30 am: Brunch time! Terrigal is booming with cafe’s and brunch spots, so you can take your pick!

1 pm: Treat yourself to a massage from Endota Spa in the Crowne Plaza. The wonderful therapists there will treat you like royalty and work out all those kinks from your Skillion hike yesterday. Take some time afterwards in the sauna and pool to really feel rejuvenated. Also, a cocktail by the pool never hurt anyone!

3 pm: Club Terrigal Bowling club. Ease yourself out of your relaxing massage at Club Terrigal with some barefoot bowls. Best enjoyed with friends, Club Terrigal Barefoot bowls is the perfect way to chill out and spend an afternoon with good company.

6 pm: Dinner and drinks at Milky Lane. My Goodness do they make some amazing food! Great staff, incredible food and AMAZING cocktails! Then finish off dinner with ice cream from the Terrigal Ice Creamery, smashing in some of your favourite treats before a relaxed stroll down the beach for sunset.

Now the weekend is over, time to pack up and head home! After 48 hours in Terrigal, you should feel relaxed, rejuvenated, fit, sun-kissed, and well-fed. We hope you loved this guide and take some ideas for your own Terrigal holiday or weekend. Let us know in the comments what your favourite things are to do in this lovely little town, we look forward to hearing from you!
